Sega's strategy game also comes in at number two in the All Formats chart

Total War Rome II tops PC game chart following Brian Blessed video

Total War: Rome II has gone straight to the top of the PC boxed game charts in the UK for the week ending September 7th.

The Sega strategy game finished ahead of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn and Sega’s Football Manager 2013, which stood at number two and number three respectively.

Rome II launched on September 3rd and was backed by a substantial marketing campaign, as reported by PCR, including several popular web videos such as one featuring actor Brian Blessed (which you can view below).

The game almost topped the Top 40 All Formats game chart too, which tracks sales of console and PC games. It reached number two in its debut week, one place behind Koch Media’s Saints Row IV.

Rome: Total War II almost became the first PC-only title to take top spot since Guild Wars II in 2012, missing out by just a few hundred sales. The sequel to 2004’s Rome: Total War beat its predecessor by more than 4,000 sales.
