All the fluff and speculation splurged out by the next iPhone rumour mill has collated into three main pillars – the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
The iPhone 5C is supposed to be a multi-coloured, perhaps lower cost version, while the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 will be the next full fat flagship smartphone extraordinaire. Maybe.
iPhone 5C release date
An Apple iPhone launch event has been confirmed for September 10th.
The iPhone 5S is expected to be the main reveal – since Apple will be due to launch a new flagship device then.
The colourful invitation comes with the tagline ‘this should brighten everyone’s day’ – which most have inferred means we’ll see a colourful model, maybe called the iPhone 5C unveiled as well.
The event kicks off at 10am PT (US) and 6 pm (UK). Keep you’re dials tunes to PCR for all the news as it breaks.
iPhone 5C videos and pics
What is claimed to be a video of the iPhone 5C in action has been posted to a Chinese website.
The less than HD footage shows a phone navigating the Apple Store in iOS 7 – though honestly it could be any phone.
This is said to be the cheaper, more colourful version of the iPhone – as opposed to a flagship iPhone 5S.
It’s not the first video claiming to capture the next iPhone that has appeared – ‘iPhone 5C rear shell scratch test’ showed and inexplicably peach handset resisting various scratches.
If genuine (which is a big if) the videos are presumably leaked by people in the factories in China making the devices, or other Apple staff around the world who may have found themselves in the possession of one.
A Taiwanese actor and singer also posted pictures of what he’s claiming is the iPhone 5C.
Jimmy Lin, who is also apparently also a professional race car driver, posted pics of himself holding an phone very closely resembling the other images supposed to be of the iPhone 5C.
Colourful buttons, apparently the volume controls (you’ll hear the word apparently a lot in articles like these) have also appeared in mysterious leaks/hoaxes. You can see them here.
iPhone 5C price
Know Your Mobile published musings from KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo that the iPhone 5C’s price – between $400 and $500 (which would put it at between £230 and £320). This would make it a kind of mid-range phone.
He also claims the iPhone 5C will most likely replace the existing iPhone 5, with the iPhone 4S’ cost dropping to match the budget market.
