McDonald’s adopts NFC for kid-friendly ‘Happy Tables’

McDonald’s has started introducing NFC-enabled ‘Happy Tables’ in its restaurants, which provide kids with NFC-based games.

The tables use a combination of stickered NFC tags and smartphone apps to provide games, which in ‘McParty Run’ involves the child following a racetrack delivered by the tags to the phone, which acts as the car and displays the track.

Each tag is programmed to act as a particular section of track, allowing the placement of sections to adjust to differently sized and shaped tables.

Several other games are available for kids to download from the Google Play store for Android.
