Remember when Yahoo was the go-to search engine before Google? Well, it’s still doing something right – the site received more web traffic than Google for the first time since May 2011.
Yahoo sites attracted 196.6 million visitors in July 2013 – some four million more compared to 192.3 million who visited Google properties, reports CNN.
Yahoo’s unique visitors were up by about a fifth year-on-year. The results come from a ComScore monthly report, which tracks unique visitors to US properties online.
The firm has made a number of changes since hiring CEO Marissa Mayer last year, including buying Tumblr, revamping Flickr and closing several products and services.
Yahoo has not yet commented on the news, but in an earnings call last month, Mayer stated page views were rising after more than a year of declines.
