The device, billed as an "all-terrain off-road sport utility laptop", can be charged in two hours and boasts a ten-hour battery life.

Ubuntu claims the Sol is the world’s first solar-powered laptop that doesn’t need to be plugged in.

Built with a rugged design and running on the Ubuntu operating system, the Sol also gives users access to thousands of free apps. It also boasts a high-definition screen.

Engadget reports the laptop will feature an Intel processor, WiFi connectivity and an optional satellite module for internet connectivity.

Ghana will reportedly get the hardware first, which is said to have a $300 price tag.
