Catalogue app superimposes 3D furniture on your smartphone or tablet

New Ikea catalogue fills your house with virtual furniture

Ikea has released its 2014 catalogue app that lets you arrange virtual furniture around your house via augmented reality.

When used in conjunction with the printed catalogue, the app can display different pieces of furniture on the users tablets or smartphone to show what they will look in a room.

For the app to work, users need to scan a product’s AR-enabled page from the physical catalogue, and then place it on the floor where they’d like it to appear. The app will then superimpose a 3D model of the selected furniture on the screen, right where the mag should be.
