An upcoming UK online marketplace which secured investment from Centerprise – OnBuy – is urging vendors to sign up ahead of its launch on November 1st.
The marketplace was revealed earlier this year and hopes to rival the likes of web retail giants Amazon and eBay. It’s aimed at businesses – including major brands and independent retailers – rather than individuals who may want to make private sales.
Vendors have already registered more than 30,000 product lines ready to trade with OnBuy, which is currently in talks with a host of UK businesses offering over one million ranges.
UK vendors and retailers can visit www.onbuy.co.uk to sign up (or click here) and ensure their products will appear on the site from day one. There are no monthly fees for vendors who sign up from now until the website goes live.
OnBuy says its cost-per-sale to vendors is lower than those charged by Amazon and eBay, "allowing vendors to sell at lower prices and to pass savings on to customers". Sellers have a dedicated account manager, and can even sell non-barcoded or custom products. Sellers can also list as many products as they like without paying a listing fee – they only pay once the item is sold.
"Unlike Amazon, OnBuy will not try to compete with its own sellers, so vendors will have control of marketplace prices and don’t have to worry about their own offers being pushed down the page," said OnBuy in a statement.
Cas Paton, 28-year-old managing director and founder of OnBuy, said: “The OnBuy team are really excited about the launch of the new marketplace.

Paton also founded web development agency OnTop Media, which secured major investment from IT provider Centerprise International.
