Microsoft has outlined its senior management restructure including some new top-level bosses.
The company has realigned to "enable innovation at greater speed and efficiency" under what it calls ‘One Microsoft’.
In an open email to all Microsoft employees, Steve Ballmer outlined the company’s strategy and restructure, which was expected to be announced this week. Windows boss Julie Larson-Green will head up the Devices and Studios Engineering Group as expected, looking after Surface tablets and Xbox (following Don Mattrick’s departure).
The senior changes are as follows:
- Terry Myerson will lead the Operating Systems Engineering Group group which will span all OS work for consoles, mobile devices, PCs and back-end systems/cloud services
- Julie Larson-Green will head up the Devices and Studios Engineering Group – hardware development and supply chain for all devices, including games, music, video and other entertainment
- Qi Lu will lead the Applications and Services Engineering Group (applications and services in productivity, communication, search and other categories)
- Satya Nadella is responsible for development of back-end technologies like datacenter and database (Cloud and Enterprise Engineering Group)
- Kirill Tatarinov will continue to run Dynamics as is, but his product leaders will report in to other departments
- Eric Rudder will lead Research and Trustworthy Computing teams in the Advanced Strategy and Research Group
- Tami Reller will lead all marketing with the field relationship as is today
- COO Kevin Turner will continue leading the Marketing Group
- In the Business Development and Evangelism Group, Tony Bates will focus on key partnerships
- In the Finance Group, Amy Hood will "centralise all product group finance organisations"
- Brad Smith will continue as General Counsel with responsibility for the company’s legal and corporate affairs in the Legal and Corporate Affairs Group
- Lisa Brummel will lead Human Resources
