Microsoft has announced that its Windows 8 store now has 100,000 apps.
Reaching the figure in seven months, the milestone puts Microsoft ahead of the pacing of the Windows Phone store, which took around 18 months the reach the same figure.
Apple took around 14 months to get to 100,000 iPad specific apps, and Google Play reached the figure in 18 months.
Microsoft has been attracting some big names to its Windows 8 store, with Facebook and Flipboard committing to building their own Windows 8 apps. Although the firm is yet to include its own Office suite, even though Office 365 has been released for the iPhone.
Microsoft tweeted the news from it’s Windows App Builders Twitter account.
