The Kate Moss Accessories Collection will launch this summer

Kate Moss helps design tablet accessories for Carphone Warehouse

Carphone Warehouse has struck an exclusive partnership with Kate Moss to create a range of fashion accessories for smartphones and tablets.

Moss will help launch the new category for women, dubbed ‘fashion tech’.

The Kate Moss Accessories Collection will launch this summer. The first season of the accessory line has been developed by Moss and the design team at Carphone Warehouse, and is geared towards the "fashion-conscious smartphone user".

Carphone Warehouse says that women are adopting smartphones at a faster rate than men. In the last 12 months, female smartphone ownership has risen by 52 per cent in the UK, compared to a 37 per cent increase among men.

64 per cent of women now own a smartphone, compared to 70 per cent of men.

Kate Moss said: "My phone’s as much a part of my look as my bag or shoes, and yet there’s so little choice out there. My whole approach was to treat this as any other fashion collaboration; I was heavily involved in the design process and loved seeing my vision come to life in the final product. From the quality of materials to design, I wanted the best for my range that reflected my personal style."

Julian Diment, Marketing Director at Carphone Warehouse, added: "We looked at the accessory ranges available today and found that consumers were crying out for something different. Consumers see their technology as another way of expressing themselves and a natural extension of their own personal style.

"Fashion tech blurs the lines between fashion and technology, and Kate Moss is the perfect match for us to drive forward integration and creativity from the two industries."

More than 14 million mobile accessories were sold in the UK last year, with sales topping more than £210 million.
