Next Optimus G series will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset

LG hosting ‘international media event’ on August 7th, next-gen Optimus G expected

LG has told the tech industry to save the date for its next media event, where it is expected that the firm will unveil its Optimus G2 smartphone earlier than expected.

Most industry experts have suggested the new smartphone would launch in early September, coinciding with IFA – the biggest European Consumer Electronics show. But with a number of other firms announcing smartphones ahead of other major trade shows, LG could be thinking along the same lines.

LG has already confirmed that its next Optimus G series of phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset, and there have been numerous rumours that the smartphone will feature a flexible display. As for other specs, we’ll just have to wait to find out.

The LG press event will take pace in New York City on August 7th.
