Tired of not measuring up to Samsung and its Galaxy devices, Apple is reportedly looking to add a few inches of its own.
A report from Reuters indicates that Apple is exploring the possibility of larger iPhone devices, with two potential devices in particular sizing in at 4.7 and 5.7-inches.
Citing sources from the Asian supply chain, Reuters claims Apple is mulling over the introduction of "at least two bigger iPhones next year".
The report continues to state that "suppliers have been approached with plans for the larger screens" but emphasised that the plans were "still under discussion."
Given the success Samsung has seen with its large-screen devices, Apple’s motive for larger iPhone devices is clear: screen envy.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note device boasts a 5.5-inch screen, whilst the Galaxy S 4 sports a five-inch display, so a 5.7-inch iPhone would not only nestle itself amongst these devices, but outperform them entirely.
As consumers increasingly opt for phablet and large-screen smartphones, it would appear Apple has finally realised that it’s not all about getting smaller – as rumours surrounding an iPhone mini continue to circulate.
