CEO Steve Ballmer is reportedly mulling over significant changes to Microsoft's management

Microsoft considering major shake-up

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is reportedly mulling over a decision to implement significant changes to the firm’s management.

A report by AllThingsD reveals that potential changes are being discussed and would ultimately work towards bolstering Microsoft as a "devices and services company".

The shake-up could result in expanded roles for a number of existing Microsoft executives, believe sources close to the organisation, and would extend across the breadth of the company, also impacting the company’s Xbox division.

Potential changes were outlined by Ballmer during an earnings call last October, during which the CEO said: "This is a significant shift, both in what we do and how we see ourselves – as a devices and services company. It impacts how we run the company, how we develop new experiences, and how we take products to market for both consumers and businesses."
