‘Just quit, leave now,’ says former HTC executive

Following the departure of chief product officer Kouji Kodera, former HTC employees have begun berating the firm via social media.

HTC has been haemorrhaging staff of late, with the departure of Kodera only the latest executive to walk away from the firm.

Other departs of the phone-make include former VP of global communications, Jason Gordon, global retail marketing manager, Rebecca Rowland, and director of digital marketing, John Starkweather.

Following the culling of HTC staff, another former executive, Eric Lin, has taken aim at the firm with a host of less-than-impressed tweets.

Discussing HTC, the former product strategy manager simply said: "To all my friends still at HTC – just quit. Leave now. It’s tough to do, but you’ll be so much happier, I swear."

The comment will no doubt hurt HTC even more, which continues to struggle in the smartphone market, unable to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.

Despite the firm’s recent success with the HTC One, which has been largely lauded as a top-end device, it has failed to drum up the sales required to turn-around the firm’s down-spiralling sales.

HTC’s sales in Q1 of this year year dropped 37 per cent to just £930m, in addition to a profit of just £1.85m – a decline of 98 per cent.

As the firm continues to falter in the smartphone market, negative comments from former staff aren’t likely to remedy the situation any time soon.
