Asks whether the channel is maximising the opportunities in business data

Stevinson launches analytics firm

Channel veteran Dave Stevinson has created a new firm, GNR, focused on business intelligence and analytics, saying it’s an obvious way for channel firms to gain a genuine, sustainable competitive advantage.

“There has always been a perennial problem with reporting and analytics in the channel. The amount of data that firms are creating is increasing exponentially and it has become a real issue,” claimed Stevinson.

“Vast data lakes are appearing and rising rapidly inside companies – some will swim in these lakes while others will drown in them.

“Analytics and understanding data has always been an interest, so I started studying the market. In the past, business intelligence and business discovery applications and tools had been prohibitively expensive and incredibly complicated. Yet this is beginning to change, so earlier this year I decided to start a channel- focussed boutique firm dedicated to agile analytics, business discovery and reporting,“ he stated.

The concept is to allow firms to quickly and efficiently harness their data so that they can spend zero time analysing and more time acting on the insight.

GNR is representing two vendors: Analyzer from Strategy Companion and QlikView partner Differentia Consulting.

GNR essentially takes all the data sources and consolidates them together to build a structured reporting system in various departmental or team specific dashboards showing all the key dashboards and tables that can then be diced, sliced, flipped and sorted as required by the user.

Stevinson believes business intelligence and analytics is a rapidly growing area. Find out more at gnr.co.uk.
