PCR Boot Camp: Retail Panel hails trade show as ‘perfect focal point for UK channel’

Members of PCR’s Retail Advisory Panel have recommended PCR Boot Camp as an effective trade show for retailers and resellers who wish to improve their business.

PCR Boot Camp, in association with Microsoft, is a conference and expo for the UK’s 250 top technology retailers, taking place at The Brewery, London on Wednesday May 29th – you can register for free here.

The PCR Retail Advisory Panel was set up to provide advice and insight into what’s happening on the frontline of the channel. This month, PCR asked the panel which trade events were useful to their businesses, and PCR Boot Camp featured high up in the list.

C Kohli, Yoyotech

"For the technology trade, the internet killed traditional shows and exhibitions. In the past, companies would line up launch events around a show and spend a fortune to attract press and customer interest. These days, companies launch to a worldwide audience whenever it suits them.

"Apart from the Gadget Show, the UK consumer seems ‘event shy’. As far as the local business calendar goes, we have just the one entry – PCR Boot Camp – which provides the perfect focal point for the UK channel."

Lorelei Gibb, Dolphin Computer Upgrades

"As a company we benefited from visiting PCR Boot Camp last year, by finding information, new suppliers and companies that we could partner with. And on a personal note, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!"

Jat Mann, PC PAL

"There are lots of trade events up and down the country (even internationally) and one could spend their entire working life just at the events. But carefully choosing the ones applicable to your sector can prove a worthwhile use of time.

"These can be community ones (like the Comptia UK Channel Community), the CompTIA EMEA or PCR Boot Camp where keynote speeches by industry leaders are a source of useful advice. I have also attended events by distributors where they aim educate the audience on new technologies or products. But often, meeting fellow attendees and building relationships with them is the biggest benefit. Oh, and a free lunch also goes down well."

PCR Boot Camp, in association with Microsoft, takes place on Wednesday May 29th at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London. Over 250 PC and IT dealers will attend the event, which will feature a conference in the morning and an expo in the afternoon. Retailers and resellers are also provided with a free lunch, while an After Show Drinks Reception will take place in the evening.

The day is free for dealers to attend and will include a conference session in the morning, with a number of sessions on improving business. All dealers who attend will get a free portable Jabra Bluetooth speaker worth £150.

After a free lunch, the expo will open, featuring the market’s biggest manufacturers and distributors.

In addition, there will be a series of ‘Break-Out Sessions’ during the afternoon, giving distributors and manufacturers the opportunity to present technical or service sessions with smaller groups of dealers.

An after-show drinks reception will provide networking opportunities to round off the day. And all dealers will go home with a VIP Gift Bag including the Jabra Bluetooth speaker.
