1000 limited edition blue Pis up for grabs in new competition

Raspberry Pi celebrates birthday with blue board and camera board competitions

It’s been a busy year for Raspberry Pi, and to celebrate its first anniversary the company is offering fans the chance to get their hands on a limited edition blue Pi.

One of Raspberry Pi’s two main manufacturing distributors, RS Components, is releasing 1000 limited edition blue Pis.

For the next four weeks, everyone who tweets #bluepi to @RSElectronics along with a suggestion for uses for a blue board, or with an impressive Pi design idea, will be entered into a competition to win one.

Each week the top ten entries will win the limited edition Pi.

That’s not the only competition that The Raspberry Pi Foundation has set up. The firm has sent its first camera boards to production and have ten to give away.

“The reason we’re giving these cameras away is that we want you to help us to do extra-hard testing. We want the people we send these boards to to do something computationally difficult and imaginative with them, so that the cameras are pushed hard in the sort of bonkers scheme that we’ve seen so many of you come up with here before with your Pis, and so that we can learn how they perform (and make adjustments if necessary),” reads the Raspberry Pi blog.

To apply for a camera board, email iwantacamera@raspberrypi.org and explain what you plan to do with it along with your postal address. The most impressive suggestions will win a pre-production board.

The camera competition is open worldwide until March 12th.
