Sergey Brin: ‘Smartphones are emasculating’

Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin has landed himself in some hot water after describing the experience of using smartphones as ‘socially isolating’ and ‘emasculating’.

According to the Business Insider, Brin added that with smartphones: “You’re just rubbing a featureless piece of glass.”

The statement was made ostensibly as part of a TED talk on the capabilities of the forthcoming Google Glasses, however, his statement has drawn from criticisms from commentators who point out that the Glasses aren’t specifically aimed at the male market.
