UK provider blames Apple for connectivity issues following recent software update

Vodafone warns iPhone 4S users not to update to iOS 6.1

Vodafone UK has warned users of Apple’s iPhone 4S not to update to the firm’s newest operating system amidst connection issues.

The provider has warned its customers via text that updating to the device’s iOS 6.1 operating system could cause intermittent issues surrounding 3G and internet connectivity.

Whilst acknowledging the issues, Vodafone has shifted the blame towards Apple itself for the problems, whilst also stating that Cupertino is working on a solution.

However, Apple has yet to address or confirm any of the highlighted issues, or even state it is working to fix the issue.

Addressing the connectivity issues on its website, Vodafone said: "Some customers may occasionally experience difficulty in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts or to connect to the internet."

"Apple is working on a solution to their software issue. These connection problems are intermittent."

"While Apple’s investigations continue, we would recommend that anyone who has not yet installed iOS 6.1 on their iPhone 4S should delay doing so until Apple has confirmed that their problem has been fixed."

The iOS 6.1 update introduced a number of improvements to Apple’s voice recognition software Siri, allowing users to purchase film tickets and purchase individual iTunes tracks.
