IT recruitment firm CWJobs reveals the number of permanent IT jobs advertised in the UK has risen

IT job count in the UK on the rise

Newly released data from the UK jobs market has shown that the number of IT opportunities available in the country has risen.

Research compiled by IT recruitment firm CWJobs has found that the number of permanent IT positions advertised within the UK during the last three months of 2012 increased by six per cent over the previous year.

In total, 99,417 IT positions were advertised throughout the final three months of 2012.

Similarly, the financial sector increased its number of job postings during the period by 0.9 per cent over the previous quarter, and by 4.6 per cent over the beginning of 2011, as 15,731 financial tech jobs were posted.

Whilst encouraging, the numbers still pale in comparison to those prior to the UK’s slip into recession, as firms continue to outsource IT duties to external software houses rather than taking on their own IT professionals.

CWJobs’ research also identified the most desirable skills for IT professionals, with SQL topping the list, and C# and C ranking in at second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, additional skills including .NET, Java, JavaScript and SQL Server languages rounded off the list’s most looked for skills.
