Zynga to shut down CityVille 2

Despite reporting a positive $311 million in revenue for Q4 2012, and revealing that FarmVille has made the firm over $1 billion, Zynga has announced that CityVille 2’s traffic has plummeted.

Zynga COO David Ko blamed the demise of CityVille 2 on a lack of lead time to properly test the game. The title will now close.

The sequel to what was once Zynga’s biggest hit, saw a massive loss of traffic at the start of December 2012. Figures dropped from 3.8 million daily active users to just 570,000.

Titles Party Friends and The Friend Game will also shut down.

As well as reporting $311 million in revenue for Q4, Zynga also announced that it is now a ‘mobile-first’ company, revealing it now has 72 million monthly active users on mobile platforms.
