Leaked images show off potential back plates for the widely expected fourth-gen iPad and second-gen iPad mini

Fifth-gen iPad images leaked online

As usual, the bimonthly gap separating the release of Apple’s latest devices has been filled with – that’s right – leaked images of rumoured devices.

Let’s get all of the buzzwords out of the way.

The latest images leaked to veteran Apple gossip site 9to5Mac showcase potential back plates for the heavily rumoured fifth-generation editions of both the iPad and iPad mini.

However, with most ‘leaked’ images, the legitimacy of the images is unclear. The only information known of the images is their origin from an accessory maker in China.

It’s no secret that Apple is expected to roll out updates to its flagship ranges this year, even more so considering the firm’s move from an annual to biannual release schedule last year as it released the fourth-gen iPad just six months after its predecessor, alongside the then new, iPad mini.

Of course, the images are unconfirmed and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Don’t expect any word from traditionally tight-lipped Apple any time soon.

The images follow the news that Apple is reportedly working on a 128GB edition of the iPad – a significant upgrade to the 64GB edition currently available.

Apple rumour season has just begun, so expect to see plenty more images of parts and panels in the coming months.
