Overall European revenue hit 7.8%

Carphone Warehouse UK Q3 revenue up 16% thanks to tablet boom

The Carphone Warehouse has beat third-quarter sales forecasts with UK like-for-like sales up 16 per cent and overall European revenue hitting 7.8 per cent.

Tablets, after sales services, and of course smartphones were prime growth drivers according to the firm’s results.

During the quarter Carphone Warehouse says it made significant progress in establishing the company as a destination for tablets. “Our keen pricing and attractive bundles enabled the business to grow market share significantly, with non-cellular representing nine per cent of retail revenue in Q3,” read the report.

Roger Taylor, chief executive of the Carphone Warehouse, said in a statement: "We substantially grew market share in both prepay and postpay, and gained authority in tablets. This reflects extremely well on our team and on our policy of investing in our proposition to give our customers compelling offers on smartphones and tablets, accepting some margin investment."
