Administrator Deloitte takes down retailer's website amidst claims it will continue to process and honour orders

HMV.com taken offline

Following their appointment as administrator of HMV, Deloitte has taken the retailer’s website offline.

Upon visiting the site, a displayed message states: "HMV.com has been suspended following the appointment of the Joint Administrators. No purchases can be made until further notice.”

The move follows confirmation from HMV management yesterday that existing orders would still be processed and honoured, whilst Deloitte confirmed that the brand would continue to trade during the administration process.

Deloitte insists that HMV sales would continue as it begun the search to find a buyer for the business, so it is widely expected that the site will be reinstated down the line.

However, the possibility remains that under the pressure of closet £200m of debt, the retailer is simply unable to afford the web hosting bills to maintain its online presence.
