Directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love intend to tell McAfee’s colourful story

Warner Bros is in negotiations to acquire the feature films rights to Joshua Davis’s recent Wired article ‘John McAfee’s Last Stand’.

The studio is in talks with Crazy, Stupid, Love directorial duo John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, who are on board to co-write, direct and produce the film.

McAfee has been involved in various legal wrangles, and recently went on the run from authorities in Belize after his neighbour, Gregory Faull, was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.

McAfee was previously arrested on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine as well as possessing an unlicensed weapon.

After a month long wild goose chase with authorities, the antivirus software creator was detained by Guatemalan police and eventually deported to the US.

So, with Ashton Kutcher taking on the role of Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic jOBS, could the Hollywood actor be the first choice for playing McAfee? Probably not, but here’s an astoundingly realistic mockup to help you imagine it…
