New tablet one of the first to run on AMD chip

Vizio Windows 8 tablet powered by AMD chip

The TV manufacturer has entered the Windows tablet market with its Vizio Tablet PC.

Unveiled at CES 2013 in Las Vegas this week, the tablet measures at 11.6-inches, offers 64GB of storage and features Windows 8 OS.

Most other Windows tablets come with either Intel or ARM-based chips, but the new Vizio Tablet PC is one of the first to run tech from AMD – the dual-core Z60 ‘Hondo’ AMD chip to be precise.

The tablet features a 2MP front-facing HD camera and mini-HDMI and mini-USB ports. It weighs 1.66 pounds and measures just 0.4-inches thick.

Although this is Vizio’s first Windows tablet, the firm did release an Android product back in 2011 called the, wait for it, ‘Tablet PC’.
