Two storage-focused distributors merge to become stronger, single unit from January 2nd, 2013

CCI and CMS to become CMS Distribution

CMS Peripherals and CCI Distribution will officially merge on January 2nd, becoming CMS Distribution.

Storage specialist CMS Peripherals acquired CCI back in September 2011. Since then the two firms have been steadily working on combining forces and growing stronger.

Now that the merger is officially moving ahead, CMS Distribution will keep all three offices, in London, Ireland and Yorkshire.

Group product marketing manager at CMS, Joe Fagan, revealed that the firm hasn’t had to make any redundancies since the acquisition, and has actually built on staff numbers.

Fagan told PCR: “We aim for 20 per cent sustained year-on-year growth and I’m pleased to say we have achieved this since the acquisition of CCI. We’ve done really well.

“The new name more accurately reflects what we do. We also thought it was a good way to use aspects of both companies’ names.”

Now that the two companies are operating as one, it will be seeking to grow more rapidly.

Fagan said: “We will remain a storage- focused distributor, but we will also investigate new areas. Often they will be storage-related – for example, we’re doing more in IT surveillance now.”

At the time of the acquisition, Frank Salmon, founder and MD of CMS Peripherals said: “We saw a great opportunity to buy a like-minded, successful distribution business that would offer our customers a broader range of storage solutions.”
