“The X1 Carbon Touch is the Ultrabook to beat,” says Lenovo president

Lenovo unveils the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, optimised for Windows 8

Lenovo has added touch capabilities to its popular ThinkPad ultrabook range.

The touchscreen version of the X1 Carbon has a 14-inch 1,600 x 900 screen, either i5 or i7 processors, Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio, backlit keyboard, Windows 8 OS, and optional built-in 3G.

With a 20.8mm carbon fibre chassis, the touchscreen capabilities add on 2.8mm, compared to the previous non-touch model, which measures 18mm. Coming in at just under 3.5 pounds, the X1 Carbon Touch is a smidgen heavier as well, but still lighter than a number of 13-inch ultrabooks on the market.

“Bringing touch gesture control to our best ThinkPad ever is a natural evolution of the portfolio and a big step towards fulfilling our promise to bring computers into a new PC+ era,” said Peter Hortensius, president, Lenovo Product Group.

“We are excited to be able to offer customers the best experience in a thin and light business class Ultrabook. The X1 Carbon Touch is the Ultrabook to beat.”

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is available now with prices starting at £1,1899.99.
