Also says that McAfee Antivirus is ‘too annoying’

John McAfee appeals for return to the US

John McAfee has launched an appeal to be allowed to return to the United States rather than face extradition to Belize, where he is wanted for murder.

According to the Register, McAfee wants to move back to the USA with his girlfriend Samantha where they can “settle down to whatever normal life we can settle down to under the circumstances”.

McAfee was arrested after illegally crossing the border from Belize in to Guatemala where he attempted to claim asylum, although that request has been denied.

McAfee has raised quite a spectre in recent weeks. He has been on the run from Belizean police following the murder of his neighbour, Gregory Faull. He has apparently been able to evade police using a number of disguises, including blacking up with boot polish, inserting tampons in to his nose and walking around in a loud shirt shouting phrases in German.

He refuses to return to Belize, saying that he is the victim of a conspiracy at the hands of local politicians.

“The intent to question me has nothing to do with Mr Faull’s murder,” said McAfee. “Since April of last year the Belizean government has been trying to level charge after charge against me, all of them groundless. This is simply the latest in that chain. The government is however getting very serious. While I was in hiding there were eight raids on my property.”

However, Belizean officials insist that McAfee is smearing the reputation of their country.

“He’s really gone out of his way to make the country look bad,” said Belize police spokesman Raphael Martinez. “If he’s innocent as he’s saying he is, he should bring in his lawyer, and let’s get to the bottom of this and say what he needs to say and let’s move on.”

Belize isn’t the only thing that’s been called in to question by McAfee. He also says he refuses to use the security software that bears his name, saying that “it’s too annoying”.
