Strong sales of the firm's Kindle Fire tablet ranges boost download figures

Amazon app store downloads up 500%

As the firm’s Kindle Fire tablet continues to set the world alight with strong sales, Amazon are reaping the benefits with its app store.

The online retail giant today announced that "App downloads in the app store have grown more than 500 per cent over the previous year."

Of course, the news is more than a coincidence and was widely expected by many.

With the release of the company’s latest Kindle Fire HD tablet, as well last month’s Black Friday event further boosting the sales of its original Kindle Fire device, the figures for Amazon’s associated app store were expected to grow significantly.

It’s no secret that Amazon relies on the success of its digital app store, considering it initially produced the original Kindle Fire tablet for a loss.

However, with strong download figures such as these, it would seem that Amazon is more than happy with its current business model.
