Microsoft said to be developing ARM powered dedicated gaming device

Xbox tablet rumoured to be on the way

Microsoft is reported to be working on the Xbox Surface, a 7-inch gaming tablet powered by an ARM processor.

According to the Verge, the device will incorporate high-bandwidth RAM as well as the custom-made processor, designed specifically for gaming performance and will run a custom Windows kernel.

Specs leaked earlier this year hint that the tablet will work in conjunction with a stationary base unit that will incorporate dual 6-core CPU’s, implying that the tablet device will work as a controller or addition to a new Xbox console.

For now though, Microsoft is remaining very tight lipped about the device.
