Everything Everywhere has launched the UK’s first fourth-generation mobile service.
As of this morning, 11 UK cities have been granted access to the new service, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Glasgow and Southampton.
The service will also hit additional cities prior to Christmas, such as Belfast, Derby, Glasgow, Hull, Newcastle and Nottingham.
EE has come under fire for its new 4G service, particularly regarding the firm’s proposed data plans in conjunction with the technology.
Users will have to fork out £36 per month for the firm’s entry-level 4G plan, which only provides users with 500MB of data.
This ranges to £56 per month for the top tier package of 8GB of data, whilst users can bolt-on additional data at a cost of £3 per 50MB of data and £20 for 4GB.
Pricing for the new service simply puts it out of reach for most users, who have questioned the service’s affordability.
EE boss Olaf Swantee has moved to defend the newly launched service, telling the BBC that the service’s pricing is based on "months of consumer research" and that the tariffs have been priced at "the sweet spot."
