NTT Docomo to launch phone call translator app
Japan’s biggest mobile network has developed an application to translate real-time phone conversations.
Initially the software will convert Japanese to English, Mandarin and Korean, although it cannot offer perfect translations at the moment.
Best Buy posts first Windows Phone 8 prices
Best Buy has announced that it is now taking pre-orders for Nokia and HTC’s new Windows Phone 8 handsets, and has detailed how much they will cost.
The Nokia Lumia 920 will cost $149.99 on a two-year contract and $599.99 contract free. The HTC Windows Phone 8X will be $99.99 on contract and $599.99 without.
70 per cent of European Apple customers prefer black
A study conducted in Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Austria reveals that black Apple products are more popular than white ones, with 70 per cent opting for a black model.
“In 2012, 11 years after the release of the original iPod classic, it appears black has overtaken Apple’s signature colour “white” as the new colour of favour,” said Idealo, the company that conducted the research.
Surely it’s just because the black versions are cheaper, no?
New HTC smartphone has next-gen screen
HTC’s new J Butterfly phone offers an industry-leading 440 pixels per inch for its 5-inch display.
This produces a 25-40 per cent higher resolution than comparable devices from Samsung, Apple, Nokia and LG. The handset goes on sale in Japan in December.
Japan gets smelly apps
A new iPhone app, Chat Perf, from Japan enables users to send smells in a text message.
To use the app, you must buy the Chat Perf iPhone attachment, which is made of an atomiser and smell tank, and fits into the iPhone’s dock port.
