Following on from PCR’s earlier report surrounding the theft of iPhone 5’s in Japan, it seems the epidemic has hit the UK too.
Police are looking to question an O2 shop assistant over the theft of iPhone 5 devices from one of its stores.
The O2 store in the Tandem Centre, Wimbledon, had around 250 handsets, worth £100,000, stolen at around 1.30am this morning.
Included within the stolen handsets was the store’s entire iPhone 5 stock, which was due to go on sale just hours later at 9am.
Today’s release of the sixth-generation device has generated worldwide buzz and customers continue to queue outside Apple stores with the hope of bagging Apple’s newest flagship smartphone.
It would appear that those looking to get their hands on an iPhone 5 are doing so by any means necessary.
It’s safe to say that the news won’t sit well with customers who have patiently waited over a week for their iPhone 5, pre-ordering the device as it was announced at Apple’s launch conference last week.
