Amazon Kindle Phone rumoured to come with Nokia Maps

Amazon phone set to be announced at Kindle event today

Amazon will hold a press event in Los Angeles today at 10:30am PDT, and many are expecting to see the company unveil a Kindle phone.

The Verge is reporting via sources placed within Amazon that a phone is definitely in the works, and even thought the phone is far from finished, it could still be announced at the event.

The phone is said to run a modified version of the Android OS similar to that of the Amazon Kindle Fire. There is speculation that Amazon has agreed with Nokia to use its mapping system rather than Google’s so it’s safe to say that the new phone will be fitted with Nokia Maps.

Amazon is expected to launch two new 7-inch Kindles – a backlit Kindle ‘Paperwhite’ reader and a new Kindle Fire at the event today.
