New earphone’s thought to of come from Foxconn

Leaked video shows Apple’s revamped in-ear headphones, just in time for iPhone 5

A leaked video allegedly shows a redesigned pair of Apple in-ear headphones.

Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn posted the video and photos of the new headphones and claims that they are set for bundling with the much-rumoured iPhone 5.

The site believes the earphones came from a Vietnamese Foxconn plant, and a photo shows a part of the cable with a label reading ‘Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in Vietnam’.

The new design shows a truncated teardrop-shaped ear bud. A departure from the previous gratis sets which have been slated for their poor sound quality, noisiness and uncomfortable fit.

Here’s a photo comparing the two different models:

What appears to be two ports can be seen behind the protective mesh gates, hinting at a dual-driver, balanced armature system.

There seems to be a lack of inline microphone or volume controls, two things necessary for taking calls or using voice command. It is possible that the mic is embedded within the headphone itself.

Apple’s latest iPhone is expected to be announced on September 12th.
