Dave Whittle, managing director of Maplin for over 15 years, has now left the retailer.
Reports from Retail Week suggest he left last month in order to pursue other interests.
The news comes mid-way through a busy year for the chain, as it plans to invest £40 million into the business while it creates new stores and develops its multi-channel strategy.
While Whittle has moved on, the firm has brought in significant new blood over the last twelve months in the form of recent recruit Ryan Thomas from Comet, who will look after Maplin’s multi-channel approach; chief executive John Cleland, formerly Somerfield’s MD, who joined in March; and finally chairman John Lovering, who joined (also from Somerfield) at the end of 2011.
Maplin most recently announced that it will roll out WiFi into all its stores. What will the firm do next?
