New SIM slot rumoured to be even smaller than previous design

Standard SIMs probably won’t fit in iPhone 5

French site NoWhereElse.fr claims to have photos of Apple’s new nano-SIM cradle.

The photos allegedly depict the new ejectable drawer for the smaller SIM sitting on top of an iPhone 4S one, showing it to be narrower than the previous design.

Smartphone owners switching over to iPhone 4 and 4S for the first time had to get their previous SIMs cut to fit the smaller slot, judging by the picture below, the new slot is too narrow to fit a cut down standard SIM used by the likes of Nokia, RIM and Motorola.

If the photos are real, we won’t have to wait long to find out as all rumours suggest a September announcement for Apple’s next iPhone.
