Users will be able to ask friends to help with search queries

Microsoft adds Facebook friend tagging to Bing

Bing will now offer friend tagging in searches, allowing users to ask friends directly to help with their queries.

Users will now be able to access their Facebook friend list via a drop-down menu on the Bing search page. This allows any of those friends to be tagged in the search. Any friend tagged will receive a message on Facebook asking them the search query.

Bing is already integrated with Foursquare, Yelp and Twitter. Now with the new friend tagging feature Microsoft is trying to further positioning Bing as a ‘social search engine’.

Earlier this month Microsoft updated Bing with a new layout and announced a partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica to enhance search results.

This is all very well and good, but do Facebook users want a whole new bunch of tagging feeds on their wall? And won’t we all just direct our friends to Google?
