Apple’s latest Mac operating system will cost UK users just £13.99.
Available as a download from Apple’s App Store as of today, OS X Mountain Lion’s release date was revealed in the company’s earnings release for Q3.
The update to the operating system was first announced in February. The new OS adds plenty of integration with the iPhone and iPad, enabling users to see their reminders, messages, notes and other notifications automatically synced between devices.
The upgrade also allows users to post to various services such as Twitter, Vimeo and Flickr from within every single page and window.
Another feature of the new OS is an update to Reading List. The Safari feature, which was first introduced in OS X Lion, allows users save web bookmarks for reading later. In Mountain Lion the feature downloads each saved page for reading even when your device has no internet connection.
The Mac App Store sees several significant upgrades in Mountain Lion. As with iOS, apps you purchase on one Mac will automatically be synched to any other Mac linked to the same Mac App Store account.
Apple’s earnings release for Q3 were quite disappointing, with the firm’s shares dropping about five per cent in after hours trading on Wall Street. Mac sales were up, but only by two per cent.
Anyone who bought a new Mac on or after June 11th is entitled to a free upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
