A number of LG Display workers have been charged for stealing OLED technology from Samsung Mobile Display.
11 people were charged in total. Six work at LG, three at Samsung Display, and two of the accused workers are former Samsung employees, according to an indictment filed with Suwon District Court in South Korea.
The alleged stealing of technology is said to of taken place between 2010 and 2011. Samsung have also put forward the allegation that LG attempted to steal its employees for its own gain.
Samsung is requesting that LG formally apologise for stealing the technology. But LG has told Bloomberg that: "The information obtained is widely known in the industry and isn’t considered a trade secret."
Bloomberg also revealed that LG Display is planning to take legal action against Samsung for defamation.
OLED is recognised as the next important technology in television displays. OLED panels measure at just 4mm thin and are said to create a more realistic visual than other flat-panel technologies such as plasma and LCD.
