Tech site reports an August 7th keynote from Apple

Apple iPhone 5: August 7th release date?

Rumours suggest the iPhone 5 could be with us within weeks. has reported that a ‘reliable industry source’ has revealed to the site that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 via a keynote speech on August 7th.

This comes after numerous reports from Asia that the new phone is already in production, with Japanese
blog Macotakara posting photos claiming to be the iPhone 5’s back panel, showing it to be made up of both aluminium and glass.

Chinese site has already started listing cases for the iPhone 5, suggesting that they are confident of the dimensions of the new smartphone.

It is widely reported that the iPhone 5 will feature a 4-inch retina display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. If true, this will be 0.5-inches bigger than previous models.

The screen size rumour has been further backed up today with posting ‘leaked photos of the iPhone 5’s front section casing’. The photos, which originate from Chinese blog, imply that the the phone will indeed have a 4-inch screen and also be available in black and white.

If the rumours and anonymous sources are true, we could be seeing the iPhone 5 a lot sooner than previously thought. PCR will be reporting on Apple’s August 7th keynote…if it happens…
