The retailer is embarking on a new campaign with the concept

Argos to roll out more alien ads

Retailer Argos is extending the use of its blue alien family, seen previously in a Christmas campaign, starting in a series of adverts that begins Sunday July 15th.

The firm believes that the aliens can be used to market a broad range of products and services – and is even considering making toys of the characters.

The new campaign will focus on Argos’s immediate request and collect service.

Argos is already using the blue alien family on social channels, and the ‘alien mum’ will soon be hosting a live web-chat on Facebook.

Nicola Brown, Argos advertising manager, told Marketing Week: “We’ve been careful not to use them in a blanket fashion everywhere until we could understand a bit better where they were well received and where to use them.

“One of the things we love about the aliens is they’re so flexible – so far we haven’t come up against a message we couldn’t express through them.”

Perhaps they’ll be advertising a computer in a catalogue near you very soon?
