Samsung has won its High Court case against Apple over the design of its tablet PC – the Galaxy Tab 10.
The decision came after a UK judge ruled it is "not as cool" as Apple’s iPad.
Apple initiated the case after accusing Samsung of infringing the design of the iPad with its own tablet.
However, Judge Colin Birss has disputed the claim stating that Apple’s designs had not been infringed as the Samsung Galaxy Tab was "not as cool" as the iPad.
He continued to say that few people would confuse the two devices for one another even though their appearances are similar.
"They do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design," said Judge Birss.
"They are not as cool," he said. "The overall impression produced is different."
As a result of the ruling, Samsung will be unable to prohibit sales of the Galaxy Tab on the grounds that it is too similar to the iPad.
Following the decision Samsung welcomed the outcome, stating: "Should Apple continue to make excessive legal claims in other countries based on such generic designs, innovation in the industry could be harmed and consumer choice unduly limited."
Apple will have 21 days to appeal the ruling.
The company has suffered a number of blows recently after a US court lifted the sales ban on the Galaxy Nexus smartphones last week, and earlier in July, a UK court ruled that another of Apple’s patents covering it’s "slide to unlock" feature could not be enforced against rival company HTC.
