Asus showcase a dual screen and convertible ultrabooks

Computex 2012: Asus displays two new ultrabooks – Taichi and Transformer Book

Asia’s largest computer exhibition Computex kicked off in Taipei this week, and Asus were there to unveil two new ultrabooks.

The Asus Taichi features dual screens, meaning it’s a ultrabook and multi-touch tablet in one. Both 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models have double-sided LED-backlit IPS/FHD display and have a touchscreen on the outside of the lid.

When the lid is open, the Taichi is just like any other ultrabook, with a QWERTY keyboard and track pad. With the lid closed, the Taichi transforms into a multi-touch tablet with stylus support.

While the two screens provide access to the same hardware, they are completely independent of each other and can also be used simultaneously.

Ultrabook no.2 is the Transformer Book, which Asus claim is the world’s first convertible ultrabook.

The Transformer Book enables users to instantly switch between an ultrabook and a tablet by simply detaching the screen.

Featuring the latest Intel Core i7 processor, the Transformer Book has SSD and HDD storage, 4GB DDR3 dual channel RAM, and USB 3.0.
