Axis software will offer swipeable webpage previews

Yahoo unveils innovative search software for Apple

Yahoo has launched Axis, a search engine service featuring swipeable webpage previews rather than a page full of links.

Axis will be available on iPad and iPhone in the form of an app. It will also be available on web browsers via a plug-in and will have the ability to sync with iOS devices, meaning users can start a search on their iPad and carry on where they left off on their desktop.

Focusing on a more visual way to display content, Yahoo’s Axis enables users to swipe through previews when using a touch screen and also quickly access the information they need just from the auto-completed preview results.

The app is initially only available in the US, but will become available in the UK by the end of the year.
