PCR Retail Boot Camp: Steve Martin can save your business

BBC journalist Penny Haslam has rounded off the conference part of the PCR Retail Boot Camp by sharing some gems of advice from comedian Steve Martin.

Haslam, who’s probably best known as the BBC Breakfast News business correspondent, regaled delegates with the number of anecdotes and observations designed to give an update on the market and help retailers survive the recession.

She used the example of ‘unwitting testimony’ – the subconscious way in which we project or feeling and thoughts in the way we present ourselves – to show how businesses can unwittingly project the wrong message.

She also passed on some gems of advice from comedian Steve Martin, including the motto “be so good they can’t ignore you”, and – unusually – used the Apollo 13 mission as an example of how focusing on achieving goals rather than achieving perfection can be the difference between life and death.

PCR Retail Boot Camp, powered by Innergie, is an exciting new conference and expo for the UK PC and IT channel.
