The upcoming PCR Retail Boot Camp will feature two panel sessions devoted to improving retailers’ businesses and we’d like you to get involved by sending us questions.
The first session, entitled ‘Why you should leave PC sales to Tesco’, will look at how dealers can cope with the increased competition for PC and IT products at retail, and will cover the following areas:
* How to make money from games, without selling them
* Customer service – the big differentiator
* The in-store experience
Panel members will include Carl West from market analyst GfK; Donna Demain from the integrated sales support organisation, Retail Profiling; Alicia Shepherd from distributor VIP Computers; and Craig Hume from the retailer Utopia Computers.
The second panel session is called ‘Online Retail: threat or opportunity’, and as the name suggests, it will cover the thorny topic of internet trading, including:
* Online – Retail’s beacon of hope or bête noire?
* Amazon & eBay – friend or foe?
* Harnessing social media
* Groupon and other daily deal services
The panel will include Mark Banfield of software solutions provider Autotask; Shane Redding of marketing services provider Cyance; Steven Lightfoot of Pudsey Computers; and Phil Meacham of the Synaxon buying group.
Both sessions will be chaired by CompTIA’s vendor and distribution engagement manager, Adam Harris.
We want all dealers to get involved in these discussions. Debate on the day is encouraged and we are also inviting retailers – and other suppliers – to get involved by sending us questions in advance.

PCR Retail Boot Camp is an exciting new conference and expo for the UK PC and IT channel, taking place on Wednesday May 2nd at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London. It is free for retailers to attend and will provide a day of conference sessions, expo showcases and networking – all designed to help dealers improve their business. In addition, there will be a series of ‘Break-Out Sessions’ during the afternoon, giving distributors and vendors the opportunity to present technical or service sessions with smaller groups of dealers.
