Real life Minecraft is coming

Minecraft gets the LEGO treatment

This summer will see the release of Minecraft LEGO after 10,000 votes were cast in just 48 hours on Lego’s CUUSOO website.

The overwhelming popularity for the PC game crashed the websites servers on five separate occasions. It didn’t take long for LEGO officials to approve the idea, as just two months later the prototype has been revealed.

Each set features four cubic modular vignettes that can be connected to recreate the Minecraft experience in LEGO bricks. The surface of the modules come off to reveal mines and hidden resources beneath.

“LEGO Minecraft Micro World is designed to celebrate the essence of the LEGO concept and the Minecraft gaming experience,” said Paal Smith-Meyer, Head of the LEGO New Business Group.

The LEGO Minecraft Micro World is due out this summer and is available for pre-order at jinx.com/legominecraft.

CUUSOO is a Japanese partner of LEGO, which works with the company to produce community supported sets. If an idea submitted to the website gains 10,000 (originally 1000) supporters, it stands a chance of being produced as an official LEGO product.
