Will offer an LTE wholesale service to businesses while partnering with Huawei for the hardware.

UK Broadband to launch first 4G network

Wireless broadband provider UK Broadband has announced the firm will launch the UK’s first 4G mobile network service with a plan to offer broadband to home and businesses.

The 4G network will arrive in London’s Southwark borough with UK Broadband having plans to wholesale the LTE service to businesses via the 3.5GHz and 3.6GHz bands.

Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has been tapped to provide equipment which will include 4G-capable equipment for internal and external use and with handsets some time next year.

Details are sketchy on exactly what sort of services will be available to businesses and consumers but it seems the focus is presenting on broadband provision rather than general 4G mobile services.

The network is apparently already live while UK Broadband works with partners to launch commercial services in May.
